The following pages provide an overview of different tools online used for digital scholarship. The tools are grouped in different categories: Text Analysis, Mapping, Data Visualization, Storytelling, Social Annotation and Web Recording. The tools included in each category range from simple and easy-to-use to more complex. While many of them are open source, please note that there are some that are licensed.
We recommend that you schedule a consultation with the digital scholarship team at the library (library-ds@umich.edu) to talk about options, access to tools that are licensed, processes, levels of accessibility of tools and documentation before getting started with your digital project.
