Biology: Getting Started

Provides resources, strategies and information on conducting research in biology, including: molecular, developmental, and cell biology; ecology and evolutionary biology; botany; and zoology.

Getting Started

The University of Michigan libraries collect books and periodicals in the field of biology to support the biology research and instruction performed by members of the University of Michigan community.

Most of the biology materials collected at the University of Michigan are housed in the Shapiro Science Library, on the 3rd and 4th floors of the Shapiro Library building. Many of the University's botany resources are housed at the University of Michigan Herbarium; zoology resources can generally be found in the Museums Library. Resources from all of these locations can be found using Mirlyn, the University Library catalog.

For help in locating library materials, you may wish to consult the Science Library's Virtual Tour, or contact the Science Library's Reference Desk , phone 936-2327.
