National Institutes of Health Public Access Policy

NIH-funded articles must be in compliance and cited with a NIHMS or PMCID number in the non-competing continuation award renewal process.

The My NCBI Help documentation (link below) walks you through the process of creating and linking NCBI My Bibliography and eRA Commons accounts to manage publications, including:

• Create a My Bibliography account and link to eRA Commons

• View and download citations

• Determine article compliance status

• Cite PubMed Central articles in the RPPR renewal process

Principal investigators must use "My Bibliography" in My NCBI to manage compliance and organize their bibliographies.

To do so, you must:

• Link your My NCBI account to eRA Commons account.
  • Start at the NCBI login page. If you do not have a My NCBI account you need to create one.
  • Click on your login name - the upper right hand corner of the screen.
  • Under Linked accounts, click Change.
  • In the Login Account Options box, select NIH and eRA Commons and enter your login credentials. Successful linking of accounts is represented by the following icon:
• Create a My Bibliography by adding relevant NIH-funded citations from PubMed Central.
• Monitor and manage your publications' compliance using My Bibliography.
