SAM.gov (formerly called FedBizOpps) is the database of federal government contracts for more than $25,000. These contracts show what products and services the federal government is interested in acquiring.
Note: this database only included contracts through the federal government, not state or local governments, which may have their own contract databases.
The University of Michigan invests a significant amount of resources in subscriptions to several third-party funding databases that allow faculty and staff to easily search for available global funding opportunities using their existing U-M login (Level 1) credentials. For additional resources, check the External Funding page on the left.

If you’ve found a foundation funding opportunity that you are interested in applying for, use Foundation Directory Online to obtain additional details on that foundation before drafting your proposal materials.
This directory does NOT list specific award opportunities, but it is especially helpful as a scoping tool for learning about the funding and programmatic profiles of over 100K foundations and charities.
Use the profile information found in the directory to write a targeted proposal focused on the specific funding priorities and interests of the foundation.

Search Scopus, a multidisciplinary database by topic, specific document title, or author to discover sources of funding supporting the research. After searching, use the "Funding Sponsor" filter on the left side of the results page to discover sponsors. Search sponsor websites and Pivot to find specific opportunities.

Wonder who is sponsoring colleagues work in an area of interest? Search Michigan Research Experts by topic to find funders and amounts awarded to U-M researchers (found under the "U-M Grants" tab).
