Finding Tests in Books & Articles
Searching Books
To search for books about tests when searching the library catalog, use the phrase "tests and measurements". To find books about how to test for a particular skill or ability, use the phrase "ability testing" with another term, such as comprehension.
Searching Journal Articles
- CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature)The IN field includes names of instruments used in research studies. To search for instruments, enter the most unique word or phrase in the instrument name. Enter topic word in the search box (e.g. coping, anxiety, depression). For visual instructions, click here.
- Sociological Abstracts (SocioFile)Contains citations to instruments used in various sociological studies.
- Web of ScienceCan trace literature and find studies that employed specific tests/instruments. NOTE: Often, unpublished test or instruments must be obtained directly from the authors.
- Current Contents ConnectCitations to recent published studies that utilize tests and instruments.
- Dissertation AbstractsSometimes has instruments included with dissertation.
- PubMed @ UMHelpful MESH headings for the concept of tests and measures include: questionnaires, psychological tests, psychometrics outcome, and process assessment. Database may be searched using keywords from the title of a particular instrument.
