Biological Station

Library resources for students and researchers at the U-M Biological Station in Pellston.

Sources of Previous Research at Biological Station

All classes conducted at the Biological Station require a research paper. When trying to determine what kind of a project to do, it is often helpful to look back at previous research that has been conducted here utilizing the various labs and field sites. Here are several resources to search for research ideas.

  • Deep Blue- All student papers are put into Deep Blue (the institutional repository for research conducted by UM faculty and students). This can be an excellent source to find out what kinds of topics previous classes have studied.
  • Reprint file- In the library there are several file cabinets that contain articles that have been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals by the researchers at the UM Biological Station. They can be found by the reference desk, and are filed in alphabetical order by the primary researcher.
  • Theses and Dissertations- The resident biologist at the Biological Station keeps a copy of all theses and dissertations that have been published based on research done at the Station at Lakeside Labs. These can be requested for use at the Library.
