Cartography

Cartography is the study and process of of representing a real geographic area on a map. Cartography as a discipline intersects with a wide variety of other topics such as history, geography, and art.

By searching our library catalog, patrons can find maps, atlases, and select databases of geospatial data and information. Please see our Finding Map Resources guide for more information about searching. We encourage users to visit the Clark Library on the second floor of the Hatcher Library in order to access the entire collection and benefit from the expertise of the library staff. Materials from our collection are available to view upon request, with the help of reference services at our front desk.

To view rare materials, you must make an appointment with a description of your request. For further inquires, email clarklibrary@umich.edu
