Public policy databases - best bets

Policy Commons provides links to millions of policy reports, briefs, analyses, and datasets from over 40,000 IGOs, NGOs, think tanks, and global research organizations. Modules are cross searchable and include: 

NGOs, think tanks, research centers

Many non-profit organizations such as think tanks, advocacy groups, and research centers (collectively known as non-governmental organizations, or NGOs) produce policy research, analysis, and data.

 

Political bias and evaluation of think tanks

  • State Policy Network supports a network of conservative think tanks in every U.S. state

  • Evaluating think tanks (Harvard Kennedy School)

  • Media Bias/Fact Check can be used to evaluate an organization's credibility (level of factual accuracy) as well as political leanings (includes various NGOs, in addition to news organizations); rates each organization separately for credibility as well as political bias

The library offers hundreds of subject or disciplinary databases that may be helpful when researching a policy issue. For example: Your topic is  affordable housing. History, sociology, or urban planning databases may all be relevant.
