The University of Michigan Medical School endeavors to expose students to the practice of medicine in many different settings and types of care delivery systems. In addition, adequate faculty preceptors are essential so that students receive sufficient individualized attention to achieve their learning goals in academic and clinical settings.

How to Access UMMS Resources

  1. Level-1 access is granted automatically with appointment – also allows direct access to ARB student assessment system
  2. Level-2 access and Outlook email (uniqname@med.umich.edu) provisioned during hiring process (used for background check)
  3. Information needed to get connected to electronic resources can be found via Health Information Technology and Services: Get Access
  4. UpToDate - Instructions (level-2 needed to access) 
    1. Must be in Michigan Medicine Buildings or connected via Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) – Getting Started to register an account (UpToDate - Registration)
    2. UpToDate - Access -  can access UpToDate via traditional browser – note, licenses last for 90 days from last connection to Michigan Medicine network (or virtual desktop) 
    3. UpToDate Anywhere Instructions for Users Without MiChart
