This guide will get you oriented to finding dance materials in the University of Michigan Library. Navigate using the tabs above to find books, videos, articles, etc.
Most of the dance materials at U-M are located in the Music Library, which is located in the Earl V. Moore Building on North Campus. Selected dance materials may also be found in the Hatcher Graduate Library and the Shapiro Undergraduate Library. The majority of the collection circulates, so if you're affiliated with the University (student, staff, or faculty), you may check out materials from any of these libraries. You may also login to Mirlyn and request any circulating materials to be sent for pickup at the campus library of your choice.
The Music Library occupies three floors. Here's an overview of what you'll find on each floor (dance books are in the GVs, which you'll find on the second floor):
First floor: Circulation desk, computers, printers, photocopiers/scanners, playback equipment, reference books, current periodicals
Second floor: Call numbers A through ML 5, dissertations, miniature scores, oversize
Third floor: Call numbers ML 5 through Z
CDs, DVDs, and VHS tapes are kept behind the circulation desk. Look up the call numbers in Mirlyn and take them to the desk to have them pulled for you.
