This guide is both for users who are new to GenAI looking for ready-made guides to explore and more experienced users looking for resources to explore on their own. While originally intended for library educators, its contents will be of value to users from a variety of backgrounds and fields. Users may opt to explore the curated articles and think pieces at will or work through our Primer or other guides (linked below) for more guided instruction.
The guide contains:
- Links to some of the primary resources produced by the GenAI Instruction Team (see below)
- Links to resources on selected topics such as AI tools, ethics, and governance (see the links in the left side bar)
Resources created by the GenAI Instruction Team
- GenAI Instruction Primer. If you are new to GenAI and are looking for an introduction to key concepts and issues, the Primer is a good place to start.
- GenAI Instruction Bibliography. If you're looking for resources to explore on your own, the Bibliography contains a curated and tagged list of references relevant to GenAI instruction from around the Web.
- GenAI Instruction Maizey: We used our bibliography and U-M's Maizey tool to create a chatbot for GenAI Instruction. You can use the chatbot to explore resources in the bibliography or develop resources, ideas, or strategies for instruction.
- GenAI Instruction Prompt Guide: Our prompt guide can help you get the most out of the GenAI Instruction Maizey and other AI chat services.
- GenAI Instruction Learning Objectives: All of our resources are based on specific learning objectives we developed for GenAI Instruction.
- GenAI Instruction Prompt Templates: You can use these specially designed prompt templates to explore specific learning objectives. For instance, you can prompt Maizey to help you learn to "compare the functions and affordances of GenAI tools" and achieve other objectives.
- The GenAI Instruction Overview includes a full list of the team's deliverables as well as additional information about our approach and work.
