About the University Library
The University of Michigan Library in Ann Arbor is one of the largest university library systems in the United States. We are made up of 18 libraries in 10 buildings, which, taken together, hold over 8 million volumes. Each year the equivalent of 2.5 miles of new material is added to our collections.
The Library's mission is to support, enhance, and collaborate in the instructional, research, and service activities of the University community. We contribute to the common good by collecting, organizing, and sharing the record of intellectual and cultural achievement. In doing so, we aim to stimulate new ways of thinking and to support the creation of new knowledge.
