This map is found through the Proquest Digital Sanborn Maps database.

General Detroit Maps

The University of Michigan Stephen S. Clark Library has several hundred maps of Detroit covering many different subjects. This guide will help you find Detroit resources online, but the library owns several different types of maps that are not online. You can search for them in the catalog which will display a link if the map is in our digital collection. If there is no link, please contact Clark Library to view the maps in person or request a scan. The library owns:

  • Detroit Street Maps
  • Detroit Plat Maps
  • Wayne County Maps
  • Historic Detroit Maps
  • Rare Detroit Maps
  • Detroit Atlases
  • Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps

Come to the library to further explore the rich history of Detroit. Library hours are found here. Michigan call numbers range from G4110-G4114

Clark Library Digital Collections

The Clark Library hosts a digital collection of a subset of our maps that have been scanned. This subset is largely made up of maps from before 1925. All the maps hosted are in the public domain, but please credit the Clark Library when using them.

This collection does not include all maps of Detroit that the Clark Library has, but does include many of them.

Suggested search terms include "Detroit" or "Wayne County", as those will return slightly different results.

Please visit the Clark Library in person for more maps that may not be in our digital collection.

Other Libraries with Detroit Map Collections

The Stephen S. Clark Library is not the only library in the area that offers cartographic resources of the Detroit area. Check out these other library websites to see what they have to offer.
