Congressional Research Service

The CRS works exclusively and directly for Members of Congress, their Committees and staff on a confidential, nonpartisan basis.  Their reports are written at the request of members and provide good summaries of policy or background information on a matter of interest to Congress.

Government Accountability Office

The GAO is an independent, nonpartisan agency that works for Congress. Often called the "congressional watchdog," GAO investigates how the federal government spends taxpayer dollars.
