Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID)

Provides information about ORCID, its purpose, and how to register and use it to distinguish you, your research and your publications. To access ORCID, visit ORCID.ORG

ORCID Research Identifier Management System

U-M researchers have two options to create an ORCID.  They can go to https://orcid.org/signin directly and either create a new ORCID username and password, or create a log in with your University of Michigan account. We recommend Institutional option, which links the University of Michigan account with the user's ORCID.

 

Search for the University of Michigan.

Click Continue. You will get a message indicating the information that UM will give to ORCID. Click Confirm.

You will see a message from UM showing the information that will be supplied to ORCID. Click Confirm.

You will see an acknowledgment that you are now logged into ORCID with your UM credentials. Click on Register for an ORCID ID.

Your new ORCID will display with some basic information.

A confirmation that from the Research Management System lets you know that your ORCID displays in MCommunity.

Here are some tips on Building your ORCID record & connecting your iD.

Fill out the form and click Next. Select how you want your ORCID ID to appear, consent to the Terms of Use, check I'm not a robot. and click Register.
