DVDs at the Askwith

The Askwith Media Library has a large and unique collection of DVDs and Blu-rays that includes feature films, television shows, documentaries, short and experimental films, and instructional/educational videos. We actively collect DVDs in a broad range of languages and various regional formats.

Staff Recommendations

  • Der Chinese
    A mass murder, a female judge, and diary entries from ages ago. Judge Brigitta Roslin has to make a dangerous journey before she discovers the background of this crime.
  • Torchy Blane Collection
    Torchy Blane is a fast-talking newspaper reporter of the 1930s. She often becomes involved in police investigations, eventually leading to the capture of criminals. As her fiance, Steve Macbride, is usually involved in these investigations, he often comes under suspicion of favoritism
  • Touch of Evil
    A narcotics officer and a corrupt cop are involved in a murder investigation in a small border town. See all three versions of the film: the theatrical version, the preview version, and the restored version.
  • The Infidel

He may not be the most observant, but in his heart he is a true Muslim. After his mother's death, Mahmud finds his birth certificate, which reveals that he was adopted at birth and he's Jewish, with the real name of Solly Shimshillewitz!
  • Going Postal
    When Moist von Lipwig is caught for his trickery, he is given the option of becoming the next postmaster or falling down a deep pit.
  • The Ghost and the Darkness
    The true story of two lions in 1890's Africa, who plan and carry out attacks on railway builders. The two cause panic among the native people because they are killing for sport rather than food and seem to be able to anticipate and avoid any trap set for them. A big-game hunter is called in to hunt and kill the two man-eaters.
  • Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
    In an attempt to avoid the police, a thief stumbles into a movie audition and gets the part of a detective. The producers send him to LA and put him under the tutelage of a real private investigator. The thief-turned-actor finds himself involved in a real-life murder mystery.
  • The Librarian: Quest for the Spear
    Flynn Carsen, a librarian with a wall full of academic degrees, is hired by the Metropolitan Library. One of his duties is to guard the treasures of myth and folklore. When part of the Spear of Destiny is stolen, Flynn must track the thieves from Amazonia to Shangri La in order to retrieve it.
  • Deathtrap
    This comedy/thriller is full of plot twists and surprises as a once successful playwright decides to get his hands on a sure-fire hit play - even if he has to kill for it.
  • Yours, Mine and Ours
    Widowed Navy nurse, Helen North, the mother of eight children, marries handsome Navy officer, Frank Beardsley, who is the father of ten.
