Due to Apple's decision to blcok Java 10.7 version, Mac users may experience difficulties with the structure editor in SciFinder. SciFinder is working on solutions. If you are experiencing difficulties with the structure editor, please check your Java version on this site http://javatester.org/version.html . For OS X 10.6.8, Java version 1.6.0_37 from Apple Inc. should still work for the structure editor. The lastest Java version should work for the structure editor now. 

Please try not allow Java to be updated to 10.7 version. If it's already happened, this solution from Apple may help to restore the working version.

If nothing above works, you can download the Structure Editor from SciFinder on this page as an alternative.

SciFinder is a discovery tool provided by Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) for chemical structure & reaction and forward cited-reference searches. Searches are performed across select Chemical Abstracts databases and Medline, which covers many disciplines such as biomedical sciences, chemistry, engineering, materials science, and agricultural science. Current UM faculty, students, and staff may access the databases through the SciFinder web version.

Need a quick check? You may access limited features of SciFinder using your smartphone. See here for details. You may login with your SciFinder account. There is no IP address restriction and your access through smartphone does not occupy our concurrent seats.

Note: Access through iPad will be directed to the web version of SciFinder (i.e. there will be IP address restriction and seats limit for iPad. ) 

Now, we are able to provide occasional walk-in access to SciFinder to general public under the following conditions:

1. It's for non-commercial use.

2. The access is via a public computer at MLibrary.
