Doing Research in Women's Health
| |
Welcome to the research guide for Women's Health. This guide has been designed to help students who are currently enrolled in WS220 (women's studies 220) / NURS220 (nursing 220). A message to students from the Women's Studies Librarian: Here you will learn to find and use the library's catalog (Mirlyn) which shows you all of the items owned by libraries on campus. You will also learn what it means to look for "peer-reviewed" or "scholarly" resources which are required for you to use to your course assignments. Additionally, you'll be encouraged to use a variety of databases as a way to find relevant articles for your assignment. Many of you are familiar with using Google to find information, but learning how to find and use databases will give you access to information you wouldn't otherwise be able find when using a basic search engine. I encourage you to explore this guide a bit by clicking on the tabs listed across the top of the page to see what information you can find for doing your assignment. However, should you encounter any problems when trying to access resources, or if you run into any questions along the way, do not hesitate to contact me and I will help you further by email or we can schedule a one-on-one research appointment. The best way to research me is by email. Click on the link listed with the contact information (right-hand side of the page), or email me at: stricklb@umich.edu. If you need help right now, you can use to the chat box listed on the left-hand side to connect to a librarian (well, if the light is green that is) and a real person will help you. Good luck with your research! |
