If you like to learn by watching, bring your headphones and visit the Library computers in the Hatcher or Shapiro libraries (there is an icon on the desktop), the Knowledge Navigation Center, Faculty Exploratory (Hatcher Library) and the Tech Deck (Shapiro Library) or to Grounworks in the Duderstadt Center on North Campus for access to lynda.com. You can check out the website (http://www.lynda.com) from any computer to see the list of software tutorials, but only a few are available for free - you must physically come in to the facilities listed above.

Safari Tech Books

If you like to learn by reading, the Safari Tech Book collection is like standing in front of all those computer help books you see at the bookstore. Hundreds of software books are available for free, and allow full-text searching, so you can find exactly what you are looking for. You must access the site from the Library's homepage (http://www.lib.umich.edu) so you are authenticated as a UM user. In the search box, type in safari then choose the Safari Techbooks from the Database list.
Teaching and Technology Collaborative (TTC) Workshops
The TTC provides free workshops on a variety software - find the currently listing at http://teachtech.umich.edu. All sessions are free to UM faculty, staff and students, but registration is required. If you are interested in a topic that is not listed, please email teachtech@umich.edu.
Handouts and Consultation
Handouts from workshops provided by the Library's Faculty Exploratory are available online. You can also get help in person at a variety of facilities - check the "Getting Help" tab for more information.
