This guide has been designed to assist the community and health professionals with finding health information relating to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and Queer communities. Users can navigate the guide by clicking on the appropriate tab which cooresponds to the type of information they wish to find.

General Health Information Resources

  • APHA: Gay and Lesbian Health
    The American Public Health Association is the oldest and most diverse organization of public health professionals in the world and has been working to improve public health since 1872.
  • CDC Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Health
    These pages provide information and resources on some of the health issues and inequities affecting LGBT communities. Links to other information sources and resources are also provided. Some of this information is designed for members of the general public.
  • MedlinePlus: Gay, Lesbian and Transgender Health
    Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals have special health concerns besides the usual ones that affect most men and women. On this page you'll find information about these specific health issues.
  • National Gay and Lesbian Taskforce: Health & HIV/AIDS Page
    The mission of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force is to build the political power of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community from the ground up. The Health & HIV/AIDS page includes a list of LGBTQ health-related reports and press releases.
  • Specialized Information Services: Gay and Lesbian Health
    The Division of Specialized Information Services (SIS) produces information resources on a range of topics covering toxicology, environmental health, HIV/AIDS, drug and consumer product information, and disaster/emergency preparedness and response.
  • MPOWERED: Best and Promising Practices for LGBT Tobacco Prevention and Control
    A unique assemblage of detail on the specific practices that have been used repeatedly at the local levels to create effective projects and policies in relation to tobacco prevention and control in the LGBTQ population.
