Why investigate funding opportunities?

You know that you need to find funding for research projects, but how do you start?  It can seem overwhelming!

  • First, begin looking sooner rather than later for resources to support your research while you're at Michigan.
  • Next, think about what makes your research unique.  That way, you can target funding sources that support your area of interest.

Funding is available from a wide variety of organizations, including the UM; other universities (if you need to travel to use their archives or special collections, for example); and governmental or private organizations.

Working with your academic department and the resources on this page are good places to start.
