Digital Humanities

An introduction to tools and projects in the field of digital humanities.

Mapping Tools

There are a variety of tools online that can be used for mapping and visualizing geographic data. They range from simple and easy-to-use, like Social Explorer, to more complex, such as ArcGIS.

More in-depth information on GIS can be found on this research guide, as well as contacting the Stephen S. Clark library.

Social Explorer

Social Explorer provides easy-to-use mapping tools, allowing users to create visualizations of demographic data, such as census, religion, and economic data. It also provides advanced tools for exporting data reports and downloading data.

ArcGIS

ArGIS is a complete system for designing and managing solutions through the application of geographic knowledge (GIS=geographic information system).

Leaflet

Leaflet is an open-source JavaScript library for creating interactive maps (and is mobile-friendly).  The website features several tutorials to help you get started.
