Finding Books

Sociological Abstracts includes information on books and book chapters as well as journal articles and dissertations. 

Use the following tools to search for books, video materials, and other items held at the U-M Library and libraries around the world.

Basic Search Tips in Mirlyn

If you know what title or author you are looking for you can use the drop-down menu to the right of the search box to select the option and type in the terms. If you are not looking for a specific item, enter your keywords or terms in an “all fields” search.

  • ​You do not need to use capital letters in Mirlyn.
  • Use quotation marks to search for exact phrases (“climate change”).

  • Do not use punctuation; for example, women’s studies should be womens studies.

  • There are no words that are excluded from searching. Every word will be searched. For example, if the words "a, an, the" are in your search, the catalog will look for those specific words.
