Resources for Architecture Research
This guide will help you find resources for architectural research in a variety of formats.
Use the tabs above to learn about how to find books, articles, and images, as well as learning more about construction materials, codes, etc.
If you have any questions, please contact your Architecture & Urban Planning Librarian, Rebecca Price (rpw@umich.edu).
Finding Resources in the Library
Where are the books?
Most books are in the basement. They're organized by call number, which you can find in Mirlyn, the online catalog. Some books, noted in Mirlyn as "reference books" are in the Reference Collection on the second floor of the library. These include encyclopedias, handbooks, and general information resources.
Where are the journals?
Journals are on the second and third floors of the library. Current journals (those that have arrived in the most recent months) are in the low shelves on the northeast side of the second floor. The bound journals are behind the glass wall beyond the current journals. The current journals are organized alphabetically by title and the bound journals are organized by call number (most Architecture journals are classified in the NA area and are on the second floor).
What about online resources?
To get to the online resources that the library subscribes to, click on the Search Tools link in the Quick Links section of this guide.
